Biography

Richard was the son of William Gilliam and Elizabeth McCormick. He was born about 1756 in Buckingham County, VA.

He married Judah.

He lived along the branches of the Holliday River in Buckingham. By 1803 he has removed to Russell County.

It has been said that Richard served during the Revolution & fought at King's Mountain. This is not accurate. It appears he served in the militia after the Revolution as a Richard from Buckingham served under Woodroof. There is no pension application.
