Biography

Washington State Veterans Cemetery

Medical Lake, WA,

Judy C. Milton entered rest on August 24,2014 in Spokane, Wa. Judy was born Judy Gillies on August 7, 1940, to Dorothy Cook (Gillies) and David Gillies, in Portland, Oregon. Judy was the baby sister to her sibling Gloria (Gillies) Richards and grew up in Portland. Judy loved the ocean and the family spent many vacations on the Oregon coast. In later years her parents owned a motel on the Oregon coast and she often visited and helped with the motel. Judy had several different occupations, she learned shorthand and was a secretary, and she worked at OptiCraft, before becoming a caretaker for adults, where she injured her back. Judy helped raise Kristan (Small) Isom, who was near and dear to her and treated her as her own daughter. During her 20's and 30's Judy could be found driving between Portland and Spokane, as she loved to get in her car and drive. Judy eventually settled in Portland and in the early 80's met Robert Milton; they would later marry in 1986. In 1989, Kristan was in a situation where she was in need of a foster home. Robert and Judy fostered her until she graduated High School and into college. Also in 1989, Judy and Robert began fostering their grand son Stephen R. Milton, they later adopted Stephen, and he lives in the Spokane area. In 1990, another grandson, Christopher Milton was born and was fostered by Judy and Robert, Christopher was also adopted, and continues to live in the Spokane area. In 1999, Judy and Robert moved the family to the Spokane area because of their wish to live out the rest of their lives in a slower paced community where the air was cleaner and Judy could see snow. After moving to Spokane Judy and Robert fostered their granddaughters Elizabeth and Victoria (Tori). Judy spent her life as a homemaker, Grandmother, Mother, and Caretaker for many children. She impacted the lives of adults and children alike. Judy opened her heart and home to enrich the lives of others. She was a listener, confidant, account, counselor Judge and friend to countless friends and acquaintances. You could always count on her to (tell it like it is.)

Judy will truly be missed by her family, many friend and acquaintances. Judy was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy (Gillies) Hayes, her father David Gillies, step-father Bill Hayes, and grandmother MeMe.
