Biography

Mary Helen was raised in a house on Laurier Street (#103) in Sherbrooke, Québec. She met Paul in Sherbrooke. Paul worked for the Canadian National Railway Company and was eventually transfered in Montréal. Mary and Paul moved into a house on Poirier Street, in Ste-Dorothée, Chomedey (Laval, Québec). They adopted Marc Robert, Richard and Pauline in the 1950's-1960's. When Paul died of a heart attack in January 1971, Mary became a single mom. She never remarried following his death and raised her 3 kids all by herself.

She was a baseball coach (and loved to watch baseball games on tv while eating mentos and applying candy pink nail polish on her finger nails), a bowling player (she had many trophies), a card/dice player (she loved Bridge and she would beat everybody at Yahtzee). She would wake up early in the morning and take long walks. She was very active.[1]

The Establishment of St. Patrick’s Church in Sherbrooke, Quebec - Sponsored by the St. Patrick’s Academy ‘Old Boys’ Association, the Boy cout troop and Wolf Cub Pack were organized in 1936. The first com mittee consisted of (...)The Rev. Brother Kevin was appointed first Scout Master, and was succeeded by Gerald Giroux. (...) Gerald Giroux was founder and first Cubmaster and was succeeded by his sister Mary. Gerald has given his life for the ‘Cause’ overseas.[2]
