Biography

Emma was born in 1845. She is the daughter of Chester Gleason and Eliza Hewitt.

Research notes

In 1860 a Thomas R. Gleason (68, b. NY, farmer) headed a Hadley, MI (Lapeer County) household with Eliza Gleason (56, b. CT), Francis Gleason (18, b. NY, laborer), Emma Gleason (14, b. NY), and Rosa Elliot (10, b. NY).

In 1870 a Henry Potter (28, b. MI, farmer) headed a Elba, MI (Lapeer County) household with Emma Potter (24, b. NY, Arthur Potter (3, b. MI), Lilly Potter (5/12, b. MI), Wm. Bantenfellow (20, b. NY, farm laborer), Thomas R. Gleason (78, b. NY, retired farmer), Eliza Gleason (67, b. NY), and Eliza Elmer (18, b. NY, domestic servant). Emma's household included her mother and uncle/step-father.
