Biography

In 1474, Walter Cromwell married Katherine Glossop[1]. She was the aunt of a man named Nicholas Glossop of Wirksworth in Derbyshire, and was staying at the house and was staying at the house of an attorney named John Welbeck[1]. They went on to have three children by 1485, Katherine, Elizabeth and Thomas. (We are actually unsure of her given name and the assumption has been made that it is the same as her eldest daughter).

Nothing more is known about her.

The UK records suggest that Thomas was the youngest of three children, and the only boy, born to Walter Cromwell and his wife Katherine née Meverell.
Is there any evidence that Katherine's maiden name was Glossop? She was an aunt of Nicholas Glossop of Derbyshire but that does not mean her name was Glossop.
