Biography

Moved from North Carolina to South Carolina. (Note: How could this be correct if he was born in SC as listed in research????) In 1818, migrated to Murphree's Valley, Blount Co., AL. Parents of 11 children, most of them were born before coming to AL.

Burial

The Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery East of Oneonta, Blount Co., AL was at one time called the Glover Cemetery. In that cemetery is a hand carved native stone monument with the name "George Glover." No dates.

In a letter from Rita Treadway a Glover researcher from the internet she states "George Glover is buried in Blount Co., AL. His grave is in the Antioch Methodist Church Cemetary on Co. Hwy 20 southeast of Oneonta. This cemetery was originally land owned by Eli Glover and was formerly known as Glover Graveyard. His grave is marked by a handcarved stone that is weathering very badly." dated 11/18/1999.

I am researching George Glover who m Rebecca Bynum, D/O Isaac Bynum. George is thought to be the S/O Robert Glover who is S/O George Glover and Susannah Mitchell. So far I have found no proof. George and Rebecca went to Blount and Calhoun Counties AL. by way of TN.

1) Thomas GLOVER born Mar 4, 1685
2) Charles Worth GLOVER born 23 Apr 1688. Later served 1711-1712 in the Indian Wars. Charles Worth GLOVER has a will recorded in Charleston Co., SC, bk 5 (1740-47) pg. 631 and Charlesworth GLOVER book 3, (1732-1737) page 8.
3) Joseph GLOVER born May 20, 1691.
Note: Were these the children of Gov. William GLOVER whose last wife was Katharine ________? Katharine/Catharine _________ later remarried to Tobias KNIGHT, who was the Private Secretary of Governor Charles Eden. Or were these the brothers of Gov. Wm Glover?
There is one child known to Gov. Wm. GLOVER. 1) Elizabeth GLOVER, and Edward Moseley was her guardian. She was bonded for 300 pounds. Elizabeth was the daughter of Catharine Glover who married Tobias KNIGHT.

Porter, Esqr) for ye sume of one thousand pounds sterling: debt also ye summe of one pound fifteen shillings and eight pence costs of suite as by ye said Wm.
