Biography

Elizabeth was born in 1841 in Mississippi. She was the daughter of H B and Emily Glover.^[1][2]

She appears in the 1850 census of Gonzales, Texas:^[1]

She married William Robert Bradshaw.^[3]

She appears in the 1860 census of Gonzales, Texas:^[4]

In 1867, she married James P. Bean in Bell, Texas.^[5] James died by 1870, according to the 1870 census: ^[6]

In 1871, Eliza Bean may have married Charles H. Rock in Bell, Texas.^[7]

In 1876, Eliza Bean married Will C. Dobbins in Bell, Texas.^[8]

She appears in the 1880 census of Bell, Texas:^[9]

and again in the 1900 census of Bell, Texas:^[10]

and the 1920 census of Denton, Texas:^[11]

Elizabeth passed away in 1921.^[12] She is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery.^[13]

Research Notes

Did Elizabeth marry four men? Is this two different women?

• Wm C Dobbins has three stepdaughters in the 1880 census, the oldest with surname Bradshaw and the two younger with surname Bean.^[14] This suggests that Eliza Dobbins previously married a Bradshaw and a Bean. (Confirm whether William was previously married.)
• In the marriage license for Charles H. Rock, the bride's name appears to be corrected as "Mrs Eliza Bean", instead of "Miss Eliza Bean". This is a license to marry, but not proof that the marriage took place. (Look for Charles H. Rock in census records.)

Is Elizabeth, daughter of John Glover, and Elizabeth, daughter of H Glover, the same person?

• E J Dobbins is recorded as the daughter of John Glover in her death record. However the informant, Dr. Thos C. Dobbins, does not know her mother's name.^[12]
• In the 1880, 1900, and 1920 censuses, Eliza's father's place of birth is recorded as North Carolina and mother's place of birth as Louisiana. This is consistent with the 1850 census entries for H P and E S Glover.
