Lucy Ann Glover was born October 26, 1845 in Steuben County, New York (Note: this birth date is given in the Olmsted Genealogy but conflicts with the birthdate of her brother).
She was the daughter of Henry W. and Eliza (McDowell) Glover of Troupsburg, Steuben County, New York. [1][2][3]
In 1865, at age 20, Lucy was In the household of her sister Martha Cox in Caton, New York. [4]
She married Samuel Olmsted on August 21, 1867. In 1870, they were farming with his parents in Troupsburg, Steuben County. [5]
By 1875, they were in Winona County, Minnesota. In 1880, they were in Clark, Faribault, Minnesota, where Samuel was a Farm Laborer. Later, Samuel was a Railroad Car Inspector in the City of Winona. [6][7][8]
As early as 1892, the family was in Mankato, Blue Earth, Minnesota, where Lucy was a Dressmaker. Samuel died there in 1897 and Lucy filed for a Widow’s Pension against his Civil War service at the end in April. In 1900, Lucy was still in Mankato with her daughters Della and Ella. Ella was teaching school in North Mankato. [9][10][11][12]
Lucy died January 24, 1908 in Hennepin County, Minnesota. She is buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. [13][14]
