UXBRIDGE - The First 100 Years (1885)

Mr. James Glover has opened a boot and shoe and stationery store in the premises next to A.M. Gilpin, jeweller. June 1885 The annual meeting of the Mechanics’ Institute was held in the Market Hall, the chair filled by president W.H. Hamilton. Officers elected for the coming year are: President James Alker, 1st vice-president James Glover.

James was born about 1852. He is the son of David Glover and Jane McKaig. [1]

James was married to Elizabeth Brown. [2]

Victoria Co., 1875 9039-75 James GLOVER, 23, yeoman, Ontario, Beaverton, s/o David GLOVER & Jane McKAY, married Elizabeth BROWN, 17, Mariposa, same, d/o George BROWN & Elizabeth ANDERSON, witn: George BROWN & Malcolm CAMPBELL both of Mariposa on Oct. 18, 1875 at Mariposa.
