Andrew Jackson Welch was twenty-four and Druscilla Glover was twenty when they married on April 25 1847 in Maryland.

The 1850 census revealed they were living in District 45, Preston County, Virginia. Jackson was born in Maryland and Drusilla was born in West Virginia. Household members: Andrew J. Welch (25), Drusilla (24), Silas (3) and Howard (1). Drucilla's parents lived next door.

They moved to Virginia before their daughter, Tresia was born in 1851.

The 1860 census of June 12, revealed Andrew was a carpenter and they were living in District 1, Preston County, Virginia and the post office was in Brandonville. Household members: Andrew J. Welch (33), Drucilla (32), Silas (13), Howard (11), Lucretia (9), Malissa J. (7), Catharina A. (5) and Mary A. (1).
