From History of Rhea County, Tennessee, published by Rhea County Historical and Genealogical Society, 1991, and compiled by Bettye J. Broyles (page 270):
"Thomas R. and Sarah S. (Godbehere) Holland
Some of the Hollands and Godbeheres went to Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma (see Thomas Godbehere history), but Thomas Reed Holland and his wife, Sarah Sabilla Godbehere (married in 1842 or 1843), remained in Rhea County. Thomas was the son of John and Martha Holland who came to Rhea County in the early 1800s. Some say Martha was a Morgan, I do not know for sure. They went to Texas in 1848 or 1849 and were listed on the 1850 Texas census. The ten children of Thomas Reed and Sarah Sabilla Holland were as follows:
Elihue McDonald Holland, born August 17, 1844, died May 25, 1848.
Martha Angeline Holland, born December 17, 1845, died January 26, 1869.
Arvazina Caroline Holland, born July 4, 1847, died April 26, 1921. She married Micajah Brady on August 12, 1869, and went to Texas. After Micajah's death in 1875, Caroline returned to the farm on the road going to Watts Bar Dam. Their children were: Margaret (my grandmother, who married Scott McGann), Anna Belle (who married John Broyles), and Lavonia (married John Walker).
Hannah Jane Holland, born September 1, 1849, died September 11, 1821. She married Thomas Robinson on July 5, 1905.
Emily Sabilla Holland, born April 2, 1851, died December 30, 1927. She married J. Dolphus Wheeler on August 13, 1873.
Nancy Lavonia Holland, born September 13, 1855, died May 19, 1923. She married Charles Holloway on December 24, 1875.
Elizabeth Ruth Holland, born September 13, 1853, died May 7, 1907. She married Thomas Holloway on October 17, 1874.
John Ivan Holland, born April 3, 1858, married Jane Ferguson on January 15, 1896. John died October 19, 1934.
Mary Abigail Holland, born November 25, 1860, died January 2, 1935. She married James A. Torbett on December 18, 1881.
Elijah Houston Holland, born May 17, 1863, died January 19, 1928.
The above information was copied years ago from my mother's Bible. I hope it will help someone in the future. She lived with John Holland and "Mary Jane" for years, but she called her "Aunt Molly" and that is the first place I remember going to when I was a little girl. Their home was near where the McClendon Cemetery is located on River Road (now New Lake Road). (contributed by Mildred Broyles Campbell)
