Elijah Goddard, son of James and Betty Goddard Goddard, was born October 9, 1771 in Athol, Worcester Co., Massachusetts.[1][2]
Elijah Goddard married "Mehitable Goodel" March 27, 1794 in Athol, Worcester Co., Massachusetts.[3][4]
Elijah and Mehitable Goodell Goddard had twelve children, most of whom died young. He was a staunch supporter of the old First Church, and was one of its deacons from 1807, until the separation of the Evangelical Church in 1830, when he went with the new church, and was one of its deacons until his death, in 1854. He was the Superintendent of the first Sunday School in town, until the division of the church, and was for several years one of the selectmen.[5] Deacon Elijah Goddard died January 26, 1854 in Athol, Worcester Co., Massachusetts.[6]
