Catherine (Godfrey) Bourne was born in Leicestershire, England.

Catherine Mary Godfrey was born on 18th January 1890 and her birth was registered in 1890 March quarter in Market Bosworth District. She was Baptised on 9 March 1890 in Ibstock, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom. She was daughter of George Godfrey and Martha, formerly Pickering. [1][2]

In 1891, George Godfrey (male age 45, head, a carpenter born in Appleby, Leicestershire) and his wife, Martha Godfrey (Married Female age 39 , born in Snarestone, Leicestershire) and their children, William (17, single, a Brickyard labourer born in Snarestone, Leicestershire), Charles E Godfrey (16, single, a Brickyard labourer born in Congerstone, Leicestershire), Agnes Godfrey (12, General Servant Domestic, born in Ibstock, Leicestershire), Eliza E Godfrey (7, scholar, born in Ibstock, Leicestershire) George A Godfrey (5, scholar, born in Ibstock, Leicestershire), Harriett Godfrey (3, born in Ibstock, Leicestershire) and Catherine M Godfrey (1, born in Ibstock, Leicestershire) were living in Orchard Street, Ibstock, Market Bosworth District, Leicestershire. In 1901, George Godfrey (male age 57, head, a carpenter and joiner born in Appleby, Leicestershire) and his wife, Martha Godfrey (Married Female age 49 , born in Snarestone, Leicestershire) and their children, Catherine M Godfrey (12) George A Godfrey (14, brickmaker), Harriett Godfrey (13) and Eleanor Godfrey (9) were living in Ibstock, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom, where all of the children were born. George's brother, Charles E Godfrey (26, a brickmaker, born in Congerstone, Leicestershire) was also in the household. [5][6]

She was married to Archibald Bourne, a coal miner hewer, in 1910 June quarter. [7]

When the 1911 census was taken, Archibald Bourne (24, coal miner hewer born in Ibstock, Leicestershire) and his wife, Catherine Mary Bourne (21, born in Ibstock, Leicestershire) had been married 1 year and had had 1 child, who was still living. They had a 4 day old baby boy, William Godfrey Bourne, and they were living at 164 Melbourne Road, Ibstock, Leicestershire. [8][9]

They seem to have changed their minds about his name as the birth of a son, George William Bourne was registered in 1911 in Market Bosworth District, Leicestershire. [10][11]
