Edith was born 25 June 1879, the eldest child of John Godfrey and Aseneth M. Sanderson. [1]
She was married at Auburn, Huron County in 1899 to David Sproul. [2]
Edith passed away from Pyaemia in 1919 at the Alexandra Hospital. Her death registration indicates that she was buried at Dungannon, however some sources give her burial at Maitland Cemetery in Goderich, Ontario about 25 km away.[3]
- (From "The Signal" obituary, below): "Edith was born at Mountain Grove, near Kingston. At 17 she came up to a farm near Dungannon and three years later was married to David Sproul, who survives her, with nine children . . . , [7 listed, and] Annie and Lloyd, all at home but the youngest who are at the home of their grandfather, (Matthew Sproul, Sproul-62). She is survived by her parents . . . . Among those present were Mr. J. Godfrey-1851 . . . ; a brother John Godfrey-6719 of Wilkie Sask.; her sisters Anna Godfrey-6718, of Toronto, and Grace Godfrey-6721, of Mountain Grove . . . ."
