Biography

(Martha) called Grace was born in 1889. She was the daughter of John Godfrey and Jessie Churches.

Zillah, the youngest child is raised by eldest sister Grace after their mother dies in 1907.

Page 2 WEDDING. RUE—GODFREY. At the Baptist Church, Raglan, Grace, eldest daughter of Cr. J. Godfrey, of Glanmire, was married to George, second son of Mr. Colin Rue, of Brown's Hill. Pastor E. Rogers officiated. The church was tastefully decorated by the friends of the bride. Given away by her father, the bride was attired in a pretty dress of grey resilda Shantung, relieved with trimmings of silk lace and touches of pale blue. She also wore the customary wreath and veil. The bride- groom's present to the bride took the form of a silver jewel case, and that of the bride to the bridegroom was a silver match box. The bride was attended by her sister, Linda, who was attired in a cream voile dress, and silk hat to match. Her present from the bridegroom was a gold bangle and prayer book. Mr. Albert Rue, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. After the ceremony, the wedding breakfast was partaken of at "Woodside", the residence of the bride's father. Mr. and Mrs. Rue then left for Raglan, their future home.

Rue, pair silver salt cellars and spoons; Mrs. and Misses Godfrey, silver and sunray cake stand; Mrs. Fulton, jardiniere; Mr. and Mrs. H. Churches, tea set; Mr. and Mrs. Cutler and family, tea set and vase; Mr. and. Mrs. C. Davison (Petersham), pair photo frames; Mr. and Mrs. Shirlaw, pair biscuit barrels and vases; Miss Shirlaw, pair vases; Miss Ida Thurling, salad bowl and servers; Mr. J. Shirlaw, pair vases; Mr. C. Shirlaw, cake stand; Miss B. Rue and Miss Holding, tea set; Mr. and Mrs. Burden, cut glass jug; Matron Churches (Gulgong) lingerie; Mr. Cris Davison, water jug and glasses; Master Toovey, cushion Miss Ruth Toovey, half dozen glasses; Master Arthur Toovey, cut glass jug; Nurse Davies, silver sugar bowl and sifter.

She passed away suddenly in 1938 on the operating table from surgery for an enlarged thyroid. Zillah was distraught. [1]

RUE.-The Relatives and Friends of Mr. GEORGE HENRY RUE and FAMILY, of Wollongong, are invited to attend the Funeral of his dearly beloved WIFE and their dear MOTHER, Martha Grace Rue; to leave the Klnsela Chapels. 183 Forest Road, Hurstville, THIS MONDAY, at 10 a.m. for the Baptist Cemetery, Woronora. CHARLES KINSELA, Oxford Street, Taylor Square.
