Edith Florence was born on the 18 April 1889 at 41 Surrey Street, Landport, in the Port Town of Portsmouth, Portsea Island, Hampshire, England[1]. She was the daughter of Frederick Charles Godfrey and Emma Elizabeth Munden.
Edith was baptized with her brother, Albert Edward, on the 3 September 1893 at St. Mary Magdalene Parish Church, Gillingham Green, Town of Gillingham, Gillingham Parish, Kent, England[2].

Married in the District Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Church of England after Banns, by me, Leonard Walter, Assistant Priest. This marriage was solemnized between us Robert Cochrane and Edith Florence Godfrey in the Presence of us, William Cochrane and Alice Maria Broadbridge[4].
Edith Florence appears in the Census of 1891 living with her mother Emma Elizabeth (Munden), along with siblings William James and Frederick Charles (Godfrey) at Arden Street, in the Village of New Brompton, near Brompton Barracks, Gillingham Parish, Medway District, Kent, England[5]. By 1901, Frederick is back with his family at 60 Foreign Street, in the District of Lambeth, in South London, England, London Borough of Lambeth, London and Surrey, England. He and Emma Elizabeth live with their children William James, Frederick Charles, Edith Florence, Albert "Bert" Edward, George Archibald and Percival Scott Lambton[6].
The 1911 Census reveals Edith Florence (Godfrey) now married to Robert (Cochrane). However, he is not with her on the night of the Census. Instead, she lives with her sons Albert Edward and Christopher Robert (Cochrane) at 12 Saxton Street, in the Village of Gillingham, near the Town of Chatham, on the River Medway, in Kent, England[7]. The 1939 Register has Edith and Robert living with their single daughter, Violet Agnes Rose (Cochrane) and married daughter, Frances Victoria Emma (Cochrane/Coe) at 33 Cross Street, in the Village of Gillingham, near the Town of Chatham, Municpal Borough of Gillingham, Kent, England[8].
Edith Florence (Godfrey) passes away around the 20 June 1964 in the Town of Chatham, on the River Medway, in Kent, England. She was 75 years old at the time of her death[9]. She was cremated on the 25 June 1964 at the Medway Crematorium, Robin Hood Lane, Blue Bell Hill, in the Town of Chatham, Kent and her ashes were strewn around Glade 41[10].
