Edith Florence was born on the 18 April 1889 at 41 Surrey Street, Landport, in the Port Town of Portsmouth, Portsea Island, Hampshire, England^[1]. She was the daughter of Frederick Charles Godfrey and Emma Elizabeth Munden.
