Biography

Nancy was born 1850 in Mississippi. She was the daughter of John Goings and Elizabeth McGill.

In 1860 she is residing in her parents household in Mill Creek Township, Drew, Arkansas. She is listed on the census record as being born about 1851 in Mississippi. There are four other siblings in the household. ^[1]

Nancy is married before August 22, 1870 as she is not included in the household of her parents on the 1870 Red Hill Township, Ouachita, Arkansas census record. ^[2] Her daughter Frances Katherine Ferrell was born December 27, 1870 in Arkansas. Nancy and her sister Bettie married brothers. Although we are not positive which brother Nancy married we do know Bettie married Silas H. Ferrell son of Henry and Catherine Ferrell.

On September 23, 1875 Nancy C. Fariel married Steve Stuckey in Miller, Arkansas. ^[3]

The Stuckey family are living in Montague, Texas in 1880. Nancy is listed on the census record as being born about 1850 in Mississippi. She and Stephen have two daughters included in the household along with her daughter Frances Feril from her previous marriage and her step-son Lewis Stuckey. ^[4]

She has not been found on the 1900 census but we do know that her husband Stephen passed away in Indian Territory in 1899. ^[5]

In 1910 we find Nancy living in the household of her son William in Washington, Love, Oklahoma. She is listed as a widow who was born 1850 in Mississippi. Her son Nathan and granddaughter Minnie are also in the household. ^[6]

On the 1920 census you will find Nancy residing in the household of her son John and his family in Hickory, Love, Oklahoma. She is listed as being born 1851 in Mississippi.^[7]

Nancy passed away in 1924 and was laid to rest in plot section 2S in Alex Cemetery, Alex, Grady, Oklahoma, United States.^[8]

Research Notes

Goines is how immediate family spelled her maiden name but her direct ancestors mostly used the spelling Going or Goings. Other variations are Gowan(s), Gowen(s), Goin(s), Goan(s) and Goughan(s) etc....
