He married Christina Allan on 24 March 1871 in Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire. [3][4] They had 7 children.

1881 at 169 Stewarton Street, Wishaw, Lanarkshire where he was a coal miner. [11]

1901 at 17 King Street, Wishaw, Lanarkshire where he was a coal mine roadsman. [12]
He died on 18 January 1918 at the Masonic Halls, Stewarton Street, Wishaw, Lanarkshire, age 72 years. [13]
