Samuel was born in 1874. Son of Caleb Golden and Malinda Wright. He may have been the grandson of John J Golden/Golding who married Frederick Woodham's widow, Mary Ann Pollard Woodham.[1]
In the 1880 census Samuel (age 8), At Home, was the son of Calup [sic] Golding in Clopton, Dale, Alabama, United States.[2]
Samuel married Dovie Dean on 10 November 1899 in Dale, Alabama.[3] They had at least one child, Willie M, a daughter. After Dovie died, he married Lena Mae Bauldree. They also had at least one child, Lora Mae Brogden.[4]
In the 1900 census Sam (age 27), Farmer, was the married head of household in Newton, Dale, Alabama.[5]
In 1910, Sam and Lena were living in Dale County, Alabama, and had two children in the home - Lora and Willie.[6]
Sam died in a horrible accident at a sawmill when his body was cut in half by a huge rotar blade. He was buried in the Woodham Family Cemetery in Dale County, Alabama, according to the Woodham family researcher, Robert Earl Woodham. Find A Grave states he was buried in the Old Dean Church Cemetery, Ozark, Dale County, Alabama.[7]
