BURNING FATALITY.
A Woman's Clothes Ignited.
ON Saturday night Mr. Stephen Goldsworthy, who resides on the Central blocks near the British mine, reported to the police that his sister, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Gear, had died at 7 o'clock on the same evening from burns. He stated that at 11 am. the deceased was engaged in cooking in the kitchen at the rear of the house, when her dress accidentally caught fire. She did not discover the fact until she went out into the yard, when the wind fanned the flames and caused her clothing to burn rapidly. Before the fire was extinguished the unfortunate woman had received injuries which proved fatal. Dr. Blaxland attended her. A report has been forwarded to the Coroner (Mr Barnett) by the police.[4]
