Biography
James Goldsworthy son of James and Mary was baptised the same day as his brother John, 12 Sep 1847 in Tywardreath, Cornwall, England [1]
At age 16 he emigrated to South Australia with his family on the Art Union arriving at Port Adelaide on 22 Aug 1864 [2]
James age 24 married Grace Dennis Olds age 18 on 27 Jul 1872 at the residence of William Henry Olds in Moonta Mines, South Australia.
He died age 66 and was buried in Moonta Cemetery.
Their son James arrived in Moonta near the end of 1864, with his family. In 1866−67 he became Captain of the Wilkawat mine (which was unsuccessful). In 1869 James was a founding member of the Masonic Lodge in Moonta. He was Worshipful Master in 1871−2. His son William Henry and his grandson James held this office in 1910−11 and 1930−31, respectively.
