Mary Goldsworthy White lived with her daughter, Laura White Crump, her son- in- law, Henry Crump and her toddler granddaughter, Edna, in Saint John, New Brunswick, at the time of her death in 1902. Her granddaughter Mary Winn Crump was born ten days after she died, and my Grandad, Harry Crump (1903-1989), sixteen months later, to Laura and Henry. The primary image photo I have scanned and uploaded currently belongs to my maternal uncle, Mary's great Grandson.
She is buried alongside her husband William White and daughter Laura White Crump. Saint John, New Brunswick would remain the home for daughter Laura until her death in 1959, and granddaughter Edna Crump, who never married, until her death in 1986.
Mary (Goldsworthy) White was born in Cornwall, England.
Mary was born about 1825. She was Baptized on October 30, 1825 in Wendron, Cornwall, England, the daughter of Joseph Goldsworthy[1][2] and Mary Winn.
As a young woman, she worked as a live-in servant in Pydar in 1841[3] and Tehidy Terrace, Falmouth, Cornwall in 1851.[4]
She married William White on 13 Dec 1856 at St Melorus in Mylor, Cornwall.[2] Their family lived in Penryn, Cornwall, England where William worked as a police constable.[5]
Falmouth, Cornwall, England.
They lived in nearby Falmouth at Fifteen Balls Inn where William worked as a victualler (a person who supplies food, beverages and other provisions for the crew of a vessel at sea).[6][7]
She emigrated to Canada with her children along with her brother, Alfred and his wife in 1872.[8] (Her husband may have emigrated earlier.)
She was widowed in 1880. Their family lived in Saint John, New Brunswick.[9]
In 1891, daughter, Laura was working as a "coat maker" (?) and son, John was a luggage maker (?).[10]
She passed away in 1902.[11] She was buried in Fernhill Cemetery in Saint John, Saint John County, New Brunswick.
Mother's name (Winn) based on Mary Ann's parent's marriage record.
