Ann Lane, widow of John Lane, coalminer died 28th September, 1898 at 70 Moodie Street, Dunfermline aged 52yrs. Father: Richard Good, coalminer, dec. Mother: Ann Good ms Penn, dec. Cause of death: Aociles?, Jaundice. Informant: James? Paterson, son in law (present).
Can find no record of a Ann Penn married to Richard Good/e although there is an Ann Penn in the 1841 census for Ruardean, Gloucestershire, there is good evidence she married a Richard Hall. All records point to mother being Amelia Meek of Forest Dean. Richard Goode married Amelia Meek in July/August/Sept Qtr of 1843 and Ann was born in the Oct/Nov/Dec Qtr of 1843 after this marriage. Looks like there is a mistake on the death record. The family may well have not known what her mother's maiden name was. Possibly Amelia/Emily had married before to a Meek and her maiden name was Penn? However, can find no marriage to confirm this. Would need to send away for George Meek (b. 1841 to Amelia) to find out.
There is a baptism (thank you Forest of Dean FHS) for an Ann Goode chr. 12th Nov 1843, Ruardean. Father Richard (collier), mother MARY. Subsequent children are baptised with mother name Amelia. Is this a mistake as their marriage is definately BEFORE Ann's birth? There is also a chr for a Richard Goode, father Richard (collier) and mother Mary for 1845 (burial 1yr 1846). I think it is possible that Amelia is Mary in the records. She was possibly known as Milly which the clergyman has misheard as Mary??
