Whitstone, seat of the Goodes from about 1540 to 1669, was the principal estate in the parish of Whitstone in the north of Cornwall. The manor was given by William the Conqueror to his half brother Robert, Earl of Moriton, and passed through other hands. How it passed to the Whitstons nobody knows. Johanna, daughter of John Goode, carried the estate in marriage to Henry Babcock, merchant of Penzance....then sold to Thomas l'Ans, Esq. It was heavily remodeled by him in 1780, and only some walls stood in 1888.

Goode-562 and Goode-114 appear to represent the same person because: There are about four of the same person that need to be merged. It is a bit confusing due to the many father/sons named Richad Goode, but I'm pretty confident I have identified true matches.
