Joseph Goodhue was born on 8 Mar 1676, in Ipswich, in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He was the son of William Goodhue, Jr., and Hannah Dane;[1] he married first, Abigail Low, by 1710 -- the birth year of their first recorded child, Francis. Widowed in 1726, he married second, the widow Elizabeth Gilbert.[2] He died at Ipswich in July of 1739;[3] his widow Elizabeth (Porter) [Gilbert] Goodhue survived him by half a century, marrying twice more and living -- according to the Porter family genealogy -- to the age of 100.[4]
