Note: Mr. Marvin L. Goodman Sr., 88, of Carebridge Assisted Living, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center. The funeral service will be be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joseph Miller officiating. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes before the service. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall. Mr. Goodman was born March 13, 1918 in Cabarrus County the son of the late Paul and Rosa Welch Goodman. He was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church where he was a Church Councilman and a member of numerous committees. Mr. Goodman was a veteran of Wold War II having served in the U.S. Navy Shore Patrol. He was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, where he was All-Conference and All-County in baseball and basketball. Mr. Goodman retired from Kern Roller & Rubber Co. and worked at Kerr Bleachery and Winn-Dixie. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Dot Safrit Goodman, who died in Oct. 2006. Survivors include his son, Mr. Mickey Goodman and wife, Judy, of Concord; grandchildren, Brad Goodman and wife, Mandy, and Greg Goodman and wife, Amber; and great-grandchildren, Blake Alston Goodman and Camryn Lynn Goodman. Memorials may be made to Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 4500 Rimer Road, Concord, NC 28025. Condolences may be registered at www.wilkinsonfuneralhome.com Wilkinson Funeral Home is handling arrangements for Mr. Goodman.
