When John Henry Goodnight was born on June 10, 1778, in Mecklenburg, North Carolina, his father, Henry, was 19 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 21. He married Mary Margeret (Peggy) Condor on March 12, 1805. They had 13 children in 22 years. He died on October 27, 1859, in Barry, Missouri, having lived a long life of 81 years, and was buried in Purdy, Missouri.[1]
John H. Goodnight II was a son of John H. I and Elizabeth N. Chisholm. John H. married Mary Margaret Condor on March 14, 1805 in Washington, Kentucky. They were the parents of Susan, Elijah H., Rachel, David, John H., Nancy, Margaret Ann, Phillip, Green, Henry Weakley, Elizabeth "Betsy",George Martin and Luke. In their birth order. John H. Goodnight was the first to be buried in this Cemetery, his son George Martin Goodnight set aside a plot of ground for this graveyard.[2]
