Biography

Matilda Joyner Goodridge was born on 10 July 1892 in Booborowie, South Australia, Australia ^[1], the daughter of Isaac James Goodridge and Mary Ann Hutchins and her siblings were Maria Ann Goodridge, Harriet Jane (Goodridge) Pratt, Thomas Eli George Goodridge and Hilda Lillian (Goodridge) Lomman.

Booborowie is a locality in South Australia. It is located 200 km (124 mi) north of Adelaide, north-east from Burra, west of Mount Bryan and east of Spalding. At the 2016 census, the Booborowie district had a population of 218.

She married Herbert Richard Edwards on 22 February 1916 in Booborowie, South Australia, Australia ^[2], The marriage of Herbert Richard Edwards, eldest son of Mr Ambrose Edwards, of Spring Farm, Mt. Bryan, to Matilda Joyner Goodridge, fourth daughter of Mr Isaac James Goodridge, of Bourne Vale. South Booborowie, was solemnised at the residence of the bride's parents, on February 23rd, by the Rev. H. A. Miller. The bride was dressed in embroidery voile with veil and wreath and she carried a carnation and fern bouquet. Miss Cora Edwards acted as bridesmaid and was dressed in cream with wreath and carried a pink rose and fern bouquet. Master Arthur FJ. Goodridge acted as best man. After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was partaken of at which about 60 guests sat down. The presents were numerous and costly. The congregation and friends of Booborowie Church presented the bride with a beautiful family bible as a token of esteem and in recognition of her services as organist at that church.^[3].

They lived in Mt. View, Mount Bryan East, South Australia, Australia and their children were Delphia Edwards, Molly Edwards, Cyril Edwards, Hazel Edwards, Audrey Rita Edwards and Betty Edwards. Herbert died on 18 October 1952 ^[4].
