William Nathanial Goodson was born on November 17, 1895 in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins, Texas, United States, son of Samuel Smith Goodson (1854–1925) and Mary Elizabeth Thornton (1862–1920).^[1]

In 1900, Willie (4), was a single son, in the household of S S Goodson (46) in Justice Precinct 1, Hopkins, Texas. ^[2]

Bill (20) married Kate Lee King (16) (born in May, 1899 in Hopkins; daughter of William Elridge King and Ella A (Collins) King) in 1916 in Hopkins.^[4] Their daughter was Marian Irene Goodson (1918–1978).
