Biography

John (Gordon) Gordon Eleventh Earl of Sutherland is a member of Clan Gordon.

John Gordon (d. 23 June 1567 Durobin), was nicknamed 'the Good Earl John'. He was the 11th Earl of Sutherland.[1][2]

He married firstly, c.1544 Elizabeth Campbell (p. Colin Campbell, 3rd Earl of Argyll and Jean Gordon). [3]

He married secondly, 15 Apr 1549 Elizabeth Stuart (p. John Stuart, 12th Earl of Lennox and Lady Elizabeth Stewart).[3][2] Issue:

  1. John, died young[4]
  2. Alexander, 12th Earl of Sutherland b. c 1552, d. 6 Dec 1594[4]
  3. Jean, d. c Jan 1584[4]
  4. Eleanor[4]

He married thirdly, after 1564 Marion Seton (p. George Seton, 4th Lord Seton and Elizabeth Hay).[2]

John died, poisoned with wife 23 Jun 1567 at Dunrobin.[2]
