Biography
[p 4: On October 31, 1854, in Jackson County Illinois, Nancy Gordon filed for a widow's pension stating that she was the widow of Jesse Gordon a revolutionary pensioner of the United States who died on August 27, 1850. She states that she married Jesse Gordon in Union County Illinois on April 2, 1829. They were married by John Whitaker J. P. She signed her application with her mark.] [p 68: File contains evidence of the marriage of Jesse Gordon to Nancy Simpson, as certified by Winstead Davie, Clerk of Union County, Illinois, April 2, 1829. Married by John Whitaker, JP] [Veteran was pensioned at the rate of $33.33 per annum commencing March 4th, 1831, for service as a private or 10 months in the North Carolina militia. His widow was pensioned in a like amount.]
