Mary Lindsey Gordon Rountree Walker was the daughter of a country doctor and she became well known in her community for caring for the sick and injured. Jesse Ballard Rountree died in 1879 and Mary married James Calvin Walker about 1881. James was a dentist and they moved to Wellington, TX and were regarded as popular and well-respected citizens there.
