Biography

John Morisset I is the descendant of a Huguenot emigrant.
1776 Project
John Morisset I performed Patriotic Service in Virginia in the American Revolution.

This family came on a ship from England to Manakintowne, Virginia. Most likely John married his first cousin since his mother's last name was Faure.

His daughter Judith, born in Virginia, married John Gordon on March 25, 1758 in Goochland County, Virginia.[1]

His sons Daniel Fore Morriset and William Morriset are named as executors of his 1782 will.[2]

His will was written May 5, 1782.[2] He died before June 6, 1783.[1]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

This has Husband of Judith (Gordon) Morrisett β€” married 25 Mar 1758 in St James Northam Parish,Goochland,Virginia

This marriage date is that of his daughter Judith Morriset b 1737 marrying John Gordon. John Morriset must have married Judith Gordon b 1715 about 1736 - she was his first wife.

Also, his entire will is available in Virginia Wills & Probate Records. Page 1 is where his daughter Judith Gordon is mentioned...

hi again. Looking at a duplicate... I think we might be looking at two (or more) Morriset/Faure marriages.

Pierre Morriset m Elizabeth Faure & they had a son John (b 1714, currently attached to Francis b c1740). Maybe that John married someone else? The three generations table of the Huguenot Society-FMCV shows Elizabeth Faure/Ford -> John Morrisette -> David Morrisette

see http://huguenot-manakin.org/manakin/lineages.php

WikiTree profiles for David Morrisett b 1740s are attached as son of John b 1714 & his mother should be born more like 1720s than Fanny's 1740 guestimate. (Daughter Margarette is born 1770s.)

I think it likely that Francis married a later generation John Morriset (which would be better for the blood relationship of the couple too).

Thoughts? Sources?

Morriset-19 and Morriset-7 appear to represent the same person because: Same wife - Ford/Faure is same name. Death info matches; birth off only a few years. Please merge. Thanks!
