Biography
Marjory was born about 1525 daughter to James Gordon of Lesmoir.
About 1550 she married John Gordon of Ardmacher third son of the deceased William Gordon of Shivas.
John Gordon and Marjory had issue:
- William his heir
- John his second son Captain John Gordon [1]
- Elizabeth mar. Arthur Garden of Banchory about 1575
At Aberdeen on 3 Jan 1582/83, John Gordon of Gight with the consent of his son and heir apparent, William, granted a charter following a preliminary contract made with Sir Patrick Gordon of Auchindoun tutor dative of Elizabeth Gordon adored lawful daughter and heir of the late George Gordon of Shivas and in the name of Agnes Beaton his spouse on the one part and said John and in the name of Marjory Gordon his spouse and said William for himself and in the name of his spouse Elizabeth Auchterlonie on the other part whereby John transferred to his grandson, George Gordon, the eldest son of William, the lands and barony of Shivas. The barony was to be held by George and his lawful heirs masculine whom failing John the second son of William and his heirs whom failing William the third son.This received Royal approval at Holyrood on 5 Apr 1585.
