John Gore was born in England in about 1606. His birthdate is estimated from a 1 July 1625 record that describes him as age 19.[1][2] His father was Richard Gore of North Baddesley and Southampton, Hampshire.[3] Anderson identifies John Gore's place of origin as Ippolitts, Herefordshire, England.[4]
In England, John Gore was educated at Queen's College, Oxford, where he received a B.A. degree on 24 January 1627/28.[5]
He was married to Rhoda (last name not known) by 1632, in England. Their first two known children were baptized in Ippolitts, Herefordshire, England.[6] The family emigrated to New England and settled in Roxbury, Massachusetts, where John Gore was admitted as a church member in 1635. Rhoda Gore was admitted to church membership in Roxbury in 1637.[7] Eight more children were born to the couple in Roxbury.[8]
He died in Roxbury, Massachusetts, on 4 June 1657.[9][10][11][12] His widow remarried after his death.
John Gore of Roxbury wrote his will "being sicke" shortly before his death on 22 May 1657. He asks that his debts in old and new England be paid, and that the money owed to him be collected. That the remainder of his estate be improved until his son Samuel reaches the age of 23. Daughter Abigail and Hannah are also mentioned as being under 21. He appoints his wife (unnamed) as executrix and names his five children John Gore, Mary Mylame, Samuel, Abigail and Hannah Gore. John and Mary had previously been given their portions of his estate. He asks his beloved brethren Philip Elliot, John Pierpont and Amos Richeson to be overseers. The will was proved 30 July 1657. Inventory was taken 22 June 1657 and valued at £812.07.6. Rosa Gore, his widow, deposed.[13]

Gore Emigrant-1 and Gore-368 appear to represent the same person because: Both represent the emigrant who appeared in Roxbury, Mass., about 1635, was married to Rhoda, and had children including sons John and Samuel. "Gore Emigrant" is not a valid LNAB, so Gore-368 is the appropriate merge destination.
