John Gorham of Barnstable wrote his will on 04 November 1762 in which he named his wife Prudence, mentioning his negro girl Peg and negro man Ceasar; sons Benjamin, Nathaniel; daughters Thankfull, Mary, Abigail, Rachel, Prudence; granddaughter Thankfull Annable; grandsons John Gorham, Daniel, Joseph, and unnamed daughters of his son Joseph deceased; son Benjamin named as sole executor. Three additional codicils were added later, and the will was proved on 19 October 1769.[2]
