Biography

John Gorman was born in the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)

John was born in 1852. John was the child of James Gorman and Eleanor Phillips. John passed away in 1920.

  • John and Rose had the following children:
    • Helena (14477/1885 unwed)
    • Patrick (15356/1886 unwed)
    • James (15717/1887, James Gorman Grazier Mount David dies 6/4/1943 brother of Alice Ryan (beneficiary)
    • Alice 16164/1888  1888 w Josiah J Ryan 6914/1911
    • Teresa (21149/1893 1893-1948 w 1920 Randalf Davidson no children
    • Eveline (7098/1896),
    • Annie (1898/9 w 1919 Edward Phillips);
    • Margaret (1900 16324/1900  w 1920 Patrick Meehan). The last three children were registered in Rockley, near Bathurst.


At the time of James senior's death in 1885 John & Rosanna, Thomas, James & Agnes, and Margaret (William’s widow) appear to have been living at Truscott's Flat where the family had 9 portions, 428 acres in all. The 1884 maps show these portions mostly in the name of James Gorman, others have William or John Gorman.

John Gorman is listed in 1900 in the Carcoar district at Truscotts Flat, Burraga in Yewens Directory Landholders New South Wales. Neighbours are Michael J Joyce and David Keating.
