Biography

Raymond was the son of John and Margaret Curran Gorman.[1] His family moved to Davenport, Iowa in 1909,[2] and in 1910, Raymond was a student at St. Ambrose College in Davenport.[3]

Raymond served in the Medical Detachment of the Army 88th Division in World War I.[4] The Division was organized in 1917 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, of men drafted from Iowa, Minnesota, the Dakotas, and Illinois.

He married Bess Nolan when he was 25.[5] He soon got a job as a high school principal in Iowa City.[6]

Before 1930, they had moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa[7] and remained there through 1940.[8] They were living in Charleston, South Carolina in 1946.[9]

He died in Minneapolis at age 86.[10] He is buried in Resurrection Cemetery, Shorewood, Minnesota.[11]
