Biography

Susannah was born about 1834 in Ballymogroarty, Co Donegal, Ireland. Immigration records indicate that Susannah arrived in Australia as an immigrant onboard the Parsee, on 9th February 1853 (the year is not well legible), with William Hanlon.

The 1903 Electoral Roll records Susan and Maggie as living in Brisbane Street, which was a main street of Drayton. Their occupations are recorded as Domestic Duties.

Susannah Hanlon passed away, after a colourful life, in 1904. Probate was granted to Thomas Mullins, Pittsworth, Licensed Victualler, for 148 pounds. Thomas Mullins was married to Helen Pottinger, daughter of Mary Anne Hanlon.

Susannah's death certificate records her occupation as housewife, and cause of death "stricture of pyloric end of stomach, vomiting, and cardiac failure. It lists her parents as Thomas Gorman and Bridget Feel. She is buried in Beauraba Cementery. The certificate state her place of birth as Donegal, Ireland., married in Drayton, Aubigny, Queensland at 21 yrs old to James Hanlon. Living offspring were Hugh Thomas, age 38, William James, 35, Michael Joseph 33, Bridget 30, Mary Ann 26, and Margaret 24.
