Biography

Robert, Jr was born in 1805 in what is now Leeds, Maine, the son of Robert Gould and Annie Parcher.

He married Lois Hunt (1814-1875) in her hometown of Carthage, Maine on 15 Apr 1832 and lived in Wilton, Maine where they raised their 8 children:

  7. Orlando O Gould

The 1850 US census for Wilton, Maine lists residents in the household of Robert Gould (45), a farmer, as: Lois G Gould (36), Anna D Gould (17), a student, Elias P Gould (16), a farmer and student, Rosilla J Gould (13), a student, Robert F Gould (11), a student, Enos T Gould (6), a student, and Orlando O Gould (2). Robert owns real estate valued at $400.

The 1860 US census for Wilton, Maine lists residents Robert Gould (55), a farmer, born in Leeds, Maine, his wife Lois G Gould (46), born in Dixfield, Maine, son Elias B Gould (27), a blacksmith, born in Wilton, Maine, daughter Rosilla J Gould (23), a domestic, born in Wilton, Farnando [sic] R Gould (22), a farm laborer and student within the past year, born in Carthage, Maine, Enos L [sic] Gould (6), a farm laborer and student, born in Wilton, Orlando O Gould (12), born in Wilton, a student, and Josiah F Gould (7), born in Wilton, a student. Robert owns real estate valued at $900 and has a personal estate of $430; his son Elias owns real estate valued at $280 and has a personal estate valued at $63.
