William F. Whicher's The History of the town of Haverhill, New Hampshire, lists William Gould, Jr., as one of the 16 men from Haverhill who served in the Mexican-American War, under Col. Franklin Pierce. ^[1]

William marries to Olive Spooner daughter of Chester Spooner and Unknown Mother. Olive was born in Benton, New Hampshire on October 22, 1831.
