Biography

Frances M. or Fanny Gould was born on 22 July 1822. [1][2] She was the daughter of Ira Gould and Dorcus Brace. [3][4]

""The oldest girl (i.e., Pa's sister) was Fannie. She married Lemuel Whitney, a preacher, and was a preacher herself. She died in Iowa about 50 years ago (the 1870s) of consumption, the scourge of the family. I never saw her, but Lem Whitney once visited us at Wasioja, MN, and all of their children I have seen."[5]

Fanny married Rev. Lemuel Whitney on 5 July 1845 in Belvidere, Boone County, Illinois. [6][7]

Fanny and Lemuel had the following children:

  1. Oscar L. Whitney b. 29 March 1847 Illinois; m. Riley-5178Ann M. Riley
  2. Alma Isabella Whitney b. 22 April 1849 Illinois; m. John Braggins
  3. John W. Whitney b. 6 August 1851 Illinois; m. Julia D. Graham
  4. Eugene M. Whitney b. 6 August 1853, Belvidere, Illinois;
  5. Artemas Lemuel Whitney b. 7 December 1855 or 1857 Illinois; unmarried
  6. Olive Emma Whitney b. 19 March 1860 Spring, Illinois[8][9]

In 1850, Francis and Lemuel, along with Oscar and Alma were living in Ohio, Boone, Illinois. [10]

In 1860, Frances was living with her husband, Lemuel and her - children: Osker L. 13, Ama Jane -11, John W. - 9, Milo M. - 5, Artenas L. -3, Oline - 0 in Spring, Boone, Illinois, United States.[11]

She passed away on 15 June 1866 in Washington, Iowa. [12] and she is buried at Spencers Grove Cemetery, Benton County, Iowa. [13]

Gould-5355 and Gould-3112 appear to represent the same person because: Your profile didn't come up as a match as I was making Fanny's profile. I didn't find it until I went looking for Rev. Whitney. Sorry for the duplication. Carrie
