Biography

Isaac Jackson 'Jack' Graham was born 31 July 1829 in Jackson County, Alabama. He was the son of Jesse Graham and Martha Jane Fanning.

In 1830, Isaac J. and his sister, Sarah E., are listed with their parents on the census in Jackson County, Alabama.[1] In 1840, the family is still living in Jackson County, Alabama.[2] By 1850 the family has relocated to Rusk County, Texas.[3]

Marriage

Circa 1855, they settled in Coryell County, Texas where Isaac met and married his wife, Sarah Kinsey on 15 January 1857.[4]

According to census records Isaac and Sarah had the following children:

  1. Sarah Jane, b 1858
  2. Martha Lucinda, b 1860
  3. Nancy Rosette "Zetie", b 1862 (In 1880 Nancy (Graham) Havin is widowed and home with parents)
  4. Emily Frances "Fannie", b 1864
  5. Thomas Franklin, b 1867
  6. Alvin Clair, b 1870
  7. Felix G., b 1872
  8. Samuel Wesley, b 1875
  9. Martin Luther, b 1877
  10. Aaron, b 1879

In 1860 Isaac is farming with wife Sarah and one-year old daughter Sarah in Cow House, Coryell County, Texas.[5] For some reason, none of the Graham family can be found in Coryell County on the 1870 census.

Military

Isaac enlisted in the Co. for 2nd Frontier District, Coryell County, as a Confederate in January 1864. He was a Private under the command of Capt. Ged Graham and Maj. G. B. Erath.[6]

Isaac is next found in 1880 in Coryell County, Texas. He is still a farmer and in the household with him are wife Sarah and children: Martha, Emily, Thomas, Alvin, Felix, Samuel, Martin, Aaron, and widowed daughter, Nancy Havin. He owned 100 acres of tilled farmland and 178 acres of woodland. The farm was valued at $2500.[7]

Death

Isaac passed away 12 September 1888 in King, Coryell County, Texas and is buried in King Cemetery, Coryell County.[8]
