Lola Petersen
Lola Petersen was born March 14, 1913, the daughter of Thomas and Leona Rounds Graham. She died Wednesday, March 10, 1999 at the Denison Care Center, Denison, Iowa at the age of eighty-five.
Lola was born in Cameron, Missouri and received her education in the Deloit Community School.
On March 14, 1933, Lola was united in marriage to William Petersen in Carroll, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Vail area until the mid 1930's when they moved to Denison. Lola was interested in buying and selling antiques. She also worked at Earl May and subsequently for the Star Mail route for several years.
Lola was a member of the Good Sam's Club, Star Mail Route, Reorganization Church of Latter Day Saints and their ladies group. She was active in the development of the Denison Senior Center. She was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother who enjoyed helping her family. Lola enjoyed antiques and loved flowers and gardening. In her leisure time she enjoyed camping and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William on October 7, 1991; one son Billy Dean on May 13, 1997; five brothers, Gordon, Mearl, Earl, Everett, and Lyle Graham. Survivors include two sons, Robert Petersen and his wife Sharon of Armstrong, Iowa, Jim Petersen and his wife Karen of Denison, one daugh-ter-in-law Marlene Petersen of Ute, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Verna Davis and Inez Hanson, both of Independence, Missouri; three sisters-in-law, Laura Graham of Vail, Ruth Graham of Independence, Mis-souri and Marion Graham of Denison, also many other rela-tives and friends.
