CLATSKANIE, Or., Nov. 18. - (Special) - Charles Madison Graham, who passed away November 10 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Geary, was a pioneer of Oregon and a veteran of the Civil War. He was born in Georgetown, Ill., May 21, 1834. Early in life he moved to Iowa. In February, 1861, he married Sarah J. Welch. In 1862 he enlisted in Company c, Thirty-ninth Iowa Infantry. In the battle of Altoona, he received three serious wounds. In April, 1865, with his parents and brothers and their families, he crossed the plains to Oregon, settling in Beaverton, where they lived until 1870. Members of the Shepardstown Post, G.A.R. had charge of the funeral services. He left a widow, two daughters - Mrs. James Geary, of Clatskanie, and Mrs. Perl Hassong, of Marshland - and three sons, James Graham, of Marshland; Richard Graham of Portland, and George Graham of Clatskanie.
