DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Richard by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Richard:
just because two researchers ,or two trees show the same wife or the same child does not make them the same ,one source may have their information mixed ,I think this is true with these two Richard Grahams ,many trees have mixed up the information from one tree for that of the Rowan Graham with that of the Randolph Graham ,and put the families together mixing them up .The Richard who died in Randolph Co.left wife ,named Asenath ,some trees have her as Nancy Asenath this has never been shown anywhere it irks me that people change the information known about a person ,because their family does not fit ,see a tree with a Nancy Graham ,even though you have from Richards estate her name is Asenath you want to put the two names together ,to make the pieces fit ,I have never seen any evidence her name was Nancy .Their daughter Nancy was factual ,she married Anthony Rains .it may be Nancy was the nickname for Asenath ,no evidence I have seen for this however
I must have accepted a merge without checking it carefully. My tree at Ancestry is correct and one of my primary goals has been to identify the surname for Asenath. I will delete when I can figure out the best way to do it.
There was a Richard Graham in Randolph County NC and another one in Rowan County NC. Jean Foster Cowan was the wife of the Rowan County Richard, not this one.
