Biography

Gentleman, of Jamaica.

Background

He was the eldest son of Mary Magdalene de Jenatsch and Lt-Col Colin Dundas Graham KW who was honoured with the Knighthood of the Third Class of King William I of the Netherlands, for his services while commanding the Scots brigade in the service of that country.

Jamaica

In June 1813 he arrived in Jamaica with his sister, Jemima Charlotte, and her new husband (their third cousin), Francis Graham Esq, sugar planter, of Twickenham Park.

"Arrived at Port Royal: Ship Earl of Lonsdale, Campbell, from London, Portsmouth and Barbados - Passengers arrived in the Earl Lonsdale: Francis Graham, Esq, Mrs Graham, Miss Graham, and Master Graham.

"It appears ‘Miss Graham’ was Margaret Graham and ‘Master Graham’ was Colin Graham – both children of Lieutenant Colonel Colin Dundas Graham of the Scots Brigade. Ref British Library Newspaper Library. Shelfmark MC 384. The Royal Gazette, Kingston, Jamaica, 12-19 Jun 1813, Sup, p9.

"Jemima Charlotte's brother, Colin Graham, died in Jamaica on 21 October 1814 – and was buried on 23 October. Ref Latter Day Saints Library, London, microfilm, St Catherine, Jamaica, Parish Burial Register, 1814 – Burials of White Persons: Oct 23 – Colin Graham, Age 13, Description: Gentleman, Ref British Library Newspaper Library; Shelfmark MC 384; The Royal Gazette, Kingston, Jamaica, 15-22 Oct 1814 PS, p20.

"Died: In Spanish-Town on Friday, Master Colin Graham, brother-in-law of Francis Graham, Esq; 22 October 1814 was a Saturday; The Royal Gazette, Kingston, Jamaica was a weekly newspaper, and was published on Saturday each week."

Death and burial

He died on 21 October 1814, aged 13. He was buried on 23 October 1814 in St Catherine's Churchyard, Jamaica.
