Douglas Graham, 3rd and 1st surviving son of James, 4th Duke of Montrose and Caroline Agnes Horsley-Beresford was born was born 7 November 1852 in London, England, United Kingdom ^{[1] [2][3][4]}.

Douglas succeeded to The Duke of Montrose and Earl Graham on 30 Dec. 1874^[2]

Douglas married Violet Hermione Graham, daughter of Sir Frederick Graham 3rd Baronet of Netherby and his wife Lady Jane Hermione Seymour (daughter of Edward Seymour, 12th Duke of Somerset) on 24 July 1876^[1][2] .

They had five children

1. James Graham, 6th Duke of Montrose (1878–1954)^[1]
2. Helen Violet Graham (1879–1945)^[1]
3. Hermione Emily Graham (1882–1978), who married Donald Cameron, 25th Lochiel^[1].
4. Douglas Malise Graham (b. 1883)^[1]
5. Alastair Mungo Graham (b. 1886)^[1]

Douglas's died (age 73) on 10 December 1925 at his residence, Buchanan Castle, and his death was registered in 1925 in the Hillhead district of Glasgow, Scotland Ubited Kingdom.^[5]
