He enlisted in the 2nd Georgia Regiment, musterd out in April 1862, as appointed 4th Sargent, Company B, May 8th 1862, and 4th Corporal in 1862. Was wounded in Vicksburg on July 4th, 1863. Was captured and paroled. He surrendered at Greensboro, NC, on April 26, 1865, along with his brother John.
