John Graham was born in 1850 in Radcliffe, near Amble, Northumberland, England, United Kingdom. He was the sixth of eleven children born to John Graham, a coal miner, and Isabella Mitchell.[1] John was baptised on 11 August 1850 in Alnwick, Northumberland, England.[2]
John was an inventor... A patent was granted for a Long distance transmitter, had dealings with telephone pioneers including Edison, Bell & GEC. invented a new type of hydrophone in WW1 capable of detecting german U-boats (prototype tested in George V dock and could pick up the ticking of a watch at the far end of the dock.[3]
In the 1851 census John (age 9 Mo) was the son of John Graham in Hauxley, Northumberland, England, living with his parents and 5 older siblings.[4]
He married Elizabeth McGuire in 1879 at St James' church, Marylebone, Middlesex.[5] Together they had 6 children:
In the 1881 census John (age 30), Telegraph Battery Man, was the married head of household at 33 Belmont St, St Pancras, London, England.[6]
John liked fast motorcycles & took photos prior to 1920.[3] He went for long walks at age 90, eventually falling in the snow where he died near his daughters house on March 13, 1941, at 5 Grosvenor Terrace, Alnwick, Northumberland, England, United Kingdom.[7] [3]
